Digital Work

WFAA Social Media Work

A large part of my internship at the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association revolves around creating, editing, and posting reels and static posts on our Instagram page. Since starting the internship last May, I can clearly see how my skills have sharpended and how my confidence has grown when it comes to producing quality content. I've developed a knack for generating creative post ideas, finding the best angles and lighting, editing in fresh and engaging ways, and  brainstorming the perfect captions. Since I've created countless posts throughout my internship so far, ranging from campus events and tours to archive photos and interactive games, I've selected a handful of top performers and some of my personal favorites for my portfolio.

#thescoopondupes Campaign

This semester-long digital campaign showcases the skills I developed in the course Journalism 175: Media Fluency in the Digital Age. Centered around the rise of “dupe culture,” the project features an infographic and slide deck that expose the ethical and environmental implications behind the trend. To produce a compelling and cohesive final product, I combined scholarly research with class insights, explored AI design tools, and refined my visual communication skills. This project gave me a strong foundation in using diverse digital tools to create content that is both visually engaging and educational.

Three Questions with Jay Balachandran

A highlight from my internship with the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association was the opportunity to interview esteemed UW alum Dr. Jay Balachandran. His thoughtful responses inspired my piece for WFAA’s Three Questions series, where three featured questions serve as a hook in the organization’s email newsletter to encourage readers to explore the full article on the website. To ensure readers were both drawn in and stayed engaged, I crafted questions that balanced warmth and professionalism and collaborated with my editor, Hayden Lamphere, to authentically capture Dr. Balachandran’s distinct voice and expertise. This project strengthened my skills in conducting professional interviews and transforming transcripts into polished, publication-ready writing.

The Short Story: Sideline Storyteller

Another opportunity I was given through the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association was taking the lead on a more demanding piece for the newsletter and website. The format for The Short Story was focused less on compiling and editing answers from interviews (like I did with my first piece on Dr. Balachandran) and more on creating a compelling feature story in my own words. My incredible subject was ESPN sideline reporter and NFL Network host, Sherree Burruss, who gave me fantastic quotes to work with and a solid understanding of her background and career highlights. It was such an honor to have the chance to work with an industry professional like her, especially because of my background in Sport Communication, and I'm incredibly grateful to have had the chance to test my writing abilities with a piece with more creative freedom.
